Keen Coffee Bar is a coffee tasting room located in one of Utrecht’s oldest retail buildings. In a relaxed and welcoming space, you can discover fifteen unique coffee gems from their very own roastery. Take a seat at the bar and enjoy an espresso, cappuccino, filter coffee – and, of course, something sweet to go with it. Keen Coffee partners with the entire coffee chain to ensure quality over quantity. You can taste the difference!

This commitment to quality doesn’t stop at the coffee; it’s woven into the very fabric of the space itself. Keen Coffee Bar isn’t just your average hipster coffee spot. Instead, the design reflects the essence of Keen: fresh, bold, colorful, and refined. The design had to create an open, inviting, and cozy atmosphere, with a large bar as the centerpiece.

The bar’s light, speckled, and evenly leveled surface keeps it from feeling like a heavy block in the room. Keen’s branding is subtly echoed in the bar’s shape and playful front details. Ashwood furniture and accents create a bright, airy atmosphere, while the contrast of blue and terra gives the interior a distinct and bold character. Around the bar, cozy corners invite you to settle in at a table. The clean lines and the interaction of light and shadow from the Penumbra light installations add a warm, inviting touch.

In addition to the overall design, a series of custom pieces were created specifically for Keen Coffee Bar. The bar, the benches in the seating area, the Penumbra lamps, Align cups, and Tangent cabinets were all specially designed or adapted for this concept.
